So that thing I mentioned...

I mentioned earlier that I was working on something quite big for 2011, and oh how true that is. I think I'm ready to let the cat out of the bag to my handful of occasional readers...haha...one day that will change...when I actually become a good and dedicated blogger. Anywho....

For those that don't know me personally....ummm...how do I break into this easily....I don't have babies the old fashioned way. There it's out, I'm infertile! It doesn't really bother me, it was my choice actually, I had my tubes removed 2.5 yrs ago, not tied, REMOVED! They had their own issues, and everytime I got pregnant it was a life threatening situation and I was rushed into the OR to have surgery. So to rid myself of the constant worry month to month and asked for them to be removed and I'd just do IVF (in-vitro fertilization) when we wanted to have a child...which was right then anyway.  So a few months after having them removed we did IVF and were sooooo lucky for it to work on the first try and that's how we got our sweet little munchkin, Luke.  Well we decided it was time to try for #2. We are both the 2nd child in our family, and just felt wrong if we didn't try to give him a sibling. Seriously what if our parents had said one is enough....we wouldn't be married, starting our own family.  So since we're in a new state since the original IVF, we decided to do a whole new cycle locally instead of using our frozen embryos that were still in Atlanta. (That's another story, and a long, costly, confusing one at that, but none the less, it was our decision.)

So October 2010 rolls around and we start all the shots, pills, going to the doctors office every other day, yada yada yada, and long story short, we are still super lucky and I'm pregnant with #2!!! We are beyond thrilled. For those that are familar with this route of baby making, here are the details. For those not familar, this is going to look like a bad math problem. 

ER= 5 follicles, 5 eggs, 5 fertilized w/ICSI
ET= 2 5d blasts (4AA, 4AB) BTW= we told everyone we only transferred one b/c they don't get it and fully expected twins with IVF #1, and made me not fully enjoy our first ultrasound.

1st Ultrasound is December 7th @ 1:30 and I can hardly wait!  9 more days, please hurry up and pass, then you can take your time. I don't think I'll rush this pregnancy like the first considering I have a toddler here to keep me busy until the baby arrives.

So there is my big goal for 2011, July 29th to be exact, another baby for our crazy house.

Sooooo.....

I've been MIA for quite some time and probably will for a little longer.  I just wanted to stop in and say that I will get back on track...oh wait I never was on track, hmmm....well I get on track one day soon.  I never really got going b/c so much changed in a short time.

So here are my list of excuses for not being a good blogger.

We moved to Charlotte, NC.
I've had many sick people in my family and my needs are always pushed aside for family, meaning my need to blog is so close to the bottom of the list it is barely visable.
I'm  a little OCD about cleaning my house and that means in my eyes it's never clean enough so that and reading everybody else's great blogs is extremely time consuming.
Also being OCD, well actually OCPD, kind of makes me a perfectionist and know that that does NOT mean I'm perfect, far from it, but I think everything must be perfect or I've failed.  So fear of failure also keeps me from diving into this blogging world.

I do want to create a blog that is interesting, highly addictive and visually all you'd ever need to look at, but for now I must get settled into our new house and read everyone else's blog! hehe, plus I have like a million things I need to make for Christmas presents.

I think this blog will be my main goal for 2011, we'll see.  I also have another HUGE goal I'm already working on for 2011, but that will be revealed at a later date.

I should just schedule time...

...to look for the remote daily.  Luke LOVES to play with the remote, and he leaves it in the most random places. (Behind the dvd player, in the seat of his ride on toy, in the ball pit) If it's not him, it's me...trying to put it somewhere he can't reach it and forgetting, like on top of a bookshelf, and then spend two hours crawling around on the floor looking for where he left it.  Ahhhh...

And here he is...thinking about what he's going to do with it this time...

He's sooooo cute though! Unless you try to take it from him, then horns pop out of that cute little head of his!

Lucky streak

So we all know that I love to yard sale, go to flea markets, antique malls and such.  I wanted to share some too cute things I've snagged over the past few weeks.  You won't believe the prices!!!

Hiding the package of C.hips Ahoy chewy chocolate chip cookies that my son growls for, that's right I said growls for, when he sees.

Oh, how I have been wanting a mixer, but not wanting to shell out $200 for a new one.  I went to an estate sale this past Friday and this beauty was sitting there with 2 glass bowls.  The picture really does not give it justice, it looks brand new.

My husband Dave isn't quite as smitten with vintage decor as I , so to compromise I painted the frame a coordinating color, hopefully to make it appear more "modern".  It worked, Dave approves.

I took a back road and came across this small church having a yard sale.  They were starting to close up and I saw this sitting on the table...yes please, thank you.  And last but certainly not least my beloved Olivetti Lettera 32.

There is a thrift store close to my house that has an amazing customer rewards program.  Every $5 you spend you get one of  your ten spaces marked on your card.  So when your card is full (you've spent $50) you get 65% off of your next purchase.  I had a full card, and they had this marked for $2.50, drum roll please......I got this vintage typewriter for $.88.

So like I said in the earlier post, I feel I've been pretty lucky with these finds.  Actually...I live in an area where most do not appreciate vintage decor or clothing, so that helps a lot.

This weeks projects...

Everyday I fall more and more in love with sewing. I took a long hiatus from it, but I'm back and loving it! I remember in kinder garden learning to sew for the first time. My mother handed me this small rectangular piece of pink fabric and folded it in half. I hand sewed around three edges, and then it happened...she turned it inside out. I thought she had just preformed magic before my very eyes. I couldn't believe that I had sewn something that looked so good. I then started making little purses. I recall giving one to my teacher that year. Ms. Smith, she loved it. Thanks for teaching me how to sew mom. Does anyone else think 5 is a little too young to play with needles or is it just this paranoid first time mom?

So this week I've been busy trying a few sewing projects.

I started out with some "Boo Boo Bags". Luke is learning to walk and we have hardwood floors. You put the 2 together and you get lots of boo-boos. I find that traditional ice packs are just too cold to hold even on my bumps and bruises, and he definitely isn't letting me hold some frozen gel pack up to his head. So I came across these and gave it a try. I like the little red cross one myself, just has the first aid feel.

I then took on the Swiffer makeover. I have the swiffer vac and love it, but with 2 dogs that shed I go through the disposable pads like crazy. I also have the Swiffer duster and enjoy it as well, but again, same problem. Lucky me came across this blog with tutorials solving all my swiffer problems. Both work very well. Just ask my "Granny".  I made her two of the Swiffer sweeper covers, and she thinks they are the greatest thing ever.

Also pictured below is a potholder. It was my first time blind stitching a border (bias tape) on anything and I was so proud to get it done, even though I had a few issues on the corners. I'm sure my 2nd potholder will be much better.

Love it even more

I have been about the luckiest person lately when it comes to gettng a great vintage find. I have a post coming soon with some recent goodies, but I couldn't wait to share this. A few weeks ago I came across a retro chrome dining table with a leaf, but no chairs. I bought the table anyways, hoping one day I'll find some chairs to match and in the meantime I'm using it as a work table in my craft room. I couldn't pass it up at $25. I'm watching TV and on comes a rerun of Everybody Loves Raymond. There in his mother's kitchen is "MY" table. Shut up!!! I have the same table they had on the set of Everybody Loves Raymond. Not THE table, but just like it and I soooo wish I had the chairs they had. I'd post a pic of mine, but it's covered in about 1,2,3...6 projects I'm working on right now.

Just thought it was an interesting fact. I loved the table before, but now I love it even more.

The Infamous First Post

“Firsts” can be so awkward. First kiss, first dance, first time meeting the parents, and of course the first post for your new blog. I’ll try and make this as painless as possible. I’m a stay-at-home mom, first and foremost. I have an amazing son who has just turned one. He fills my days with sweet kisses, giggles, and challenging mommy moments. Second, I’m a wife, married to my best friend for a little over 2 years. We started out in Atlanta, but after having our son moved back to my hometown in North Carolina to be near family for a few years. Living in the country allows for a much slower pace, and a simpler lifestyle. I found myself with time on my hands, and filled that time with couponing, scrapbooking, sewing, thrifting, and just creating.
